Lore from the Hallowed Halls of the PDM Archive

As Told By The Olde Storyteller
In The Beginning...
Punch Drunk Monkeys were born on Halloween 1994 in the depressed city of Binghamton, New York. Disgusted by the self-righteous seriousness of the current crop of loud rock acts on the national scene, the band came together to sign a blood oath to forever change the face of rock and roll.
Okay maybe it wasn't a blood oath but if there had been snow they might have pissed their names in it.
PDM has been seen on Mtv's "Indie Outing", Canada's Much Music, and has played at silly industry bashes like NXNE, PMC and a few others, plus the ultracool underground festivals WE Fest (Wilmington, NC)(3x) and Alcoholocaust (Spencer, NY)(3x). The band was a main-stage act for the WFNX/Boston Phoenix "Best Music Poll" festival in 1997, Headlined the first ever "Royal Fest" zine convention in NYC and was a National Finalist/Regional winner in the Sam Goody/Musicland "UnVailed" band and board competition the same year.
Ok, all that stuff is true, but basically we're a bunch of mental patients driving around the country in a retard bus, so come on out and chuck donuts at us if that's what blows your skirt up, Jackson.
Albums: Cruel & Unusual (MPRESS Records), 1995; Let's Have Another (3 song cass. MPRESS Records), 1998; Animal Lover (3 song cass. MPRESS RECORDS) 1999

"My final night in Philadelphia got off to a hilarious start with Punch Drunk Monkeys. Consider, a leaf blower with a paint roller attached to the end to send toilet paper spiraling over the crowd. PDM also threw to the thrill seekers shredded paper and donuts. They initiated a foam-rubber fight and supplied the weapons. PDM rained silly string down on everyone's head. Toward the end of the set a huge monster made out of inflated garbage bags emerged. The finale was a human flame thrower made all the more interesting by the fact that he shot his flames directly onto the spongy acoustic tile adhering to the ceiling." - detroitmusic.com (review of PDM's Philadelphia Music Conference set)
